Letting the World Know

From the desk of PRO

During Reverberations 2009, I had shared my vision of creating a brand for Toastmasters, with the delegates.  Some of the PR initiatives that have been undertaken are:

  1. Creation of a Google group  which has connected Public relation officers of clubs and Divisions across the District. d82PRO@googlegroups.com.   It is a platform where officers can share:

  • ideas about publicity,

  • important achievements of clubs,

  • publicity that the club/division has had

  1. Initiation of the process of preparing a Media directory which would serve as database of media contacts across the District.

  2. Institution of an award for the ‘Most Active PRO’ at the Division level.

  3. Institution of an award for the ‘Best Club Website’.

  4. Best Bulletin competition – Print & Electronic media

The PRO office is busy preparing guidelines for the awards/competitions, which shall be announced by January 17, 2010.

Public relation is team work and can only be successful if every member contributes to it. I urge members and clubs to pool in their resources, so that we can reach out to a wider audience, which in turn would lead to increased membership and clubs.

Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Vinay Jain CC, ALS

District 82 Public Relations Officer
